MIND. High yield Mental Investments.

In the spirit of your health as your wealth and building a diverse portfolio for yourself, here are some work-in habits you can start at home. No shrink or medication required.

  • Phone: Have your phone off or on airplane mode for at least 8 hours per day. Preferably, wake up with it in either of these modes.

  • Screen Time: Tally up the amount of time you spend a day looking at a screen - TV, phone, computer, tablet, etc. Find a way to eliminate 30-6o minutes.

  • Use Herbs: Nervines are used in botanical medicine to soothe, calm and nourish the nervous system. I believe plants are here for us to interact with them. Pick-up a box of Cup of Calm tea by Traditional Medicinals and use two tea bags as a wind-down ritual.

  • Blank Space: We have the option to be busy ALL of the time now. Disengage. Leave the phone behind for a walk, or in the back seat of the car while driving. Stop the multi-tasking of listening to a podcast in the shower and just allow your mind to roam. Notice what is in your natural world.

  • Long-Form Content: the average human attention span while engaged with screens is around 45-seconds, which is a sharp drop from 150-seconds twenty years ago. Opt for long-form content over dopamine-hitting videos.

  • Try New Things: we often get caught in the efficient track of our lives. Take a new route to work or to the grocery store. Join a group you have been curious about. Eat or brush your teeth with your non-dominate hand. It’s amazing how changing perspectives can open up your world.

  • Vitamin N: find some small way to engage with nature daily. We aren’t separate from it, we are a part of it. Tune in to the natural outside world.
