BODY. Best Performing Physical Investments.

I recently gave a talk to a room full of millionaires (maybe some billionaires in there, too) on longevity. I am sure there was anticipation for some fancy new device that can aid in immortality. But I didn’t try to sell them anything. I reviewed the research and brought them back to the basics. I call it “Timeless Medicine.” No crazy new machine, or pharmaceutical or supplements. Just your willingness to do it.

  • Capacity: can your body perform? Focus on three ares:

    • Cardiovascular Fitness

      • think VO2 Max and Zone 2

    • Resistance and Strength Training

      • think range of motion and compound movements

    • Flexibility, Agility, Balance

      • Focus on foot speed to avoid falls!

  • Metabolic Flexibility: can your body adapt?

    • Fiber!

      • amazingly positive prediction on aging clocks.

    • Fasting!

      • what’s your body’s ideal window and length?

    • Food!

      • home-cooked, real foods enjoyed in a relaxed setting.

  • Resilience: can your body recover?

    • Sleep

      • consistent sleep-wake cycles

      • in a cool room

      • avoidance of screens before bedtime

    • HRV

      • a measurement of bodily resilience through inter-beat variations of heart rate.

  • Detoxification: can your body reduce its biological burden of toxins?

    • Water

      • check out your zip code on EWG’s Site and see if you still want to drink the tap water in your town.

    • Bowel Movements

      • daily?

    • Sweating

      • sweat produced through effort and exercise is superior to sauna, though sauna is a much better alternative than no sweat production at all!

I like to ask the question: what is my body built for? Real food, consistent movement, quality sleep, cold water.
